The Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce recently sent a letter to Gov. Josh Shapiro and Pennsylvania General Assembly members, supporting the new administration and urging bipartisanship.
“As you begin this new chapter of Pennsylvania’s history, we collectively encourage you to work in a bipartisan manner to foster creative, productive public policy that ensures a robust, reliable, and affordable energy supply to our Commonwealth’s businesses and families,” the letter stated. “By removing barriers to investment and creating opportunities for both businesses and individuals, we can position our state to meet the demands of the 21st-century global economy.”
Bipartisanship can be a tool for advancing public policy that responsibly uses the state’s energy resources to encourage industries to grow in Pennsylvania, the chamber said. This will create an inclusive economy, combat inflation, and improve national energy security.
“Through bipartisan policymaking, we have the unique chance to support policies that promote domestic energy production and its use in legacy and innovative industries,” the letter stated. “This will result in a dynamic marketplace with greater opportunities for our citizens, many of whom have departed for other states in search of opportunity. Pennsylvania is too rich in resources and people to continue to decline in population.”
The letter was signed by the Associated Pennsylvania Constructors, American Petroleum Institute – Pennsylvania, Associated Builders and Contractors – Keystone Chapter, Consumer Energy Alliance, Keystone Contractors Association, Manufacturer & Business Association, Marcellus Shale Coalition, National Federation of Independent Business, Pennsylvania Aggregates and Concrete Association, Pennsylvania Builders Association, Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, Pennsylvania Chemical Industry Council, Pennsylvania Council of General Contractors, Pennsylvania Dry Cleaners Association, Pennsylvania Forest Products Association, Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association, Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association, and the Pennsylvania Septage Management Association.
