84 Lumber, the largest privately-owned building materials supplier in the United States, plans to make improvements to 54 existing locations and open new facilities by the end of the year to increase market share.

The company, based in Eighty Four, Pa., currently operates 14 component manufacturing plants, 28 engineered wood product centers (EWP), 34 door shops, and 234 stores.

This year, the company will open two stores in Colorado and one in California; a new door shop in Colorado; new component plants in Florida, South Carolina, and Idaho; a second plant in Atlanta; and new EWP facilities in the New Jersey and Boston markets.

In addition, stores in Sarasota, Fla., and Morgantown, W.V., will relocate to larger buildings, and the EWP facility in Atlanta is being relocated to a larger location in Cartersville, Ga.

“With the opening of these new stores and manufacturing facilities, we remain strong in our continued prospect for growth,” 84 Lumber President Maggie Hardy said. “We value our customers and listen to what is important to them to grow their businesses. As a result, we are growing and expanding in two ways – opening new locations and investing in existing markets.”

84 Lumber operates stores, component manufacturing plants, custom door shops, and engineered wood product centers in more than 35 states.
