M&T Bank provides $1.2M to statewide initiatives through Pennsylvania Neighborhood Assistance Program

New York-based M&T Bank Corp. will provide more than $1.2 million, through the Pennsylvania Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP), to 42 initiatives statewide.

“M&T supports the Neighborhood Assistance Program as an innovative way to spur community development and revitalization throughout Pennsylvania,” Gail D’Angelo, M&T’s community reinvestment manager for Pennsylvania, said. “We look forward to working with our partner organizations that were approved for NAP this year and witnessing the tremendous impact they will make in their respective communities.”

NAP encourages private-sector investment in initiatives designed to improve underserved communities or address neighborhood problems. Businesses that donate receive state tax credits. Gov. Tom Wolf recently approved $36 million in NAP investments.

M&T invested $295,000 in central Pennsylvania, $300,000 in Philadelphia, and $395,000 in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Recipients include:

The Diamond City Partnership, an economic development alliance working to transform downtown Wilkes-Barre, will receive $50,000.

WEPA Empowerment Center will receive $50,000 to establish a bilingual workforce development center in Lebanon.

Affordable Housing Centers of Pennsylvania will receive $30,000 to provide housing counseling services to West Philadelphia residents.

HDC Mid-Atlantic will receive $25,000 for the ongoing development of the College Avenue affordable housing project in Lancaster.

In fiscal year 2022, M&T Bank provided $836,000 to 35 projects statewide through the NAP program.
