Pennovation Works, a blend of offices, labs, and production space developed by the University of Pennsylvania, recently named Denita Henderson as its managing director.
Henderson will be tasked with implementing the facility’s long-range strategic master plan. This includes partnering with Longfellow Real Estate Partners in the planning, development, and construction of the approximately 437,000-square-foot Life Sciences Research, Development, and Manufacturing Facility that will open in late 2025.
She will also monitor the development, design, construction, and operations of the property; be in charge of including marketing, communications, and leasing; and work collaboratively with the Penn Center for Innovation, PCI Ventures, and the Office of the Vice Provost for Research.
“My initial goals include a focus on fully activating the space, reinforcing a sense of place with opportunities for new connections and advancements,” Henderson said. “I want to get more people together again in person and encourage the natural collaboration amongst innovators, mentors, and visitors of the ecosystem. Pennovation Works will continue to develop as a dynamic hub for activity within the local and broader innovation community.”
Henderson has experience as a business development consultant focusing on strategic planning and management and served as the director of small business development for the Office of the Mayor of the City of Wilmington.
