Cabinetworks Group to expand in Huntingdon County

Cabinetworks Group, a manufacturer and distributor of kitchen and bath cabinetry, plans to invest $23 million to expand its Mount Union facility in Huntingdon County.

The company plans to convert its existing kitchen cabinet component manufacturing facility into a complete cabinet manufacturing and assembly operation. The project will retain 1,367 existing positions in four locations statewide and create 327 new jobs within three years.

The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) submitted a proposal for a $630,000 workforce development grant to train new workers and a $981,000 Pennsylvania First grant.

The Governor’s Action Team, an experienced group of economic development professionals, coordinated the project.

“This is the second Cabinetworks Group project we’ve invested in under Gov. Wolf,” Acting DCED Secretary Neil Weaver said. “We’re pleased to support this newest expansion as the company continues to grow in central Pennsylvania.”

Cabinetworks Group invested $10.7 million in 2016 to purchase the 200,000-square-foot facility.

Weaver held a press conference Thursday at the facility to discuss the project. He was joined by Cabinetworks Group CEO John Barkhouse and other officials. They also toured the facility.

Cabinetworks Group produces framed and frameless cabinetry at 19 facilities for dealers, home centers, distributors, and multifamily home builders.
