Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA) will host the regional 2022 Manufacturing Summit on Oct. 26 at Reading Area Community College’s Miller Center for the Arts.
Dr. Tim Simpson, a Paul Morrow professor of engineering design at Penn State University and a manufacturing co-director, will give the keynote speech. His presentation is called “Manufacturing in the Metaverse.”
A panel of regional manufacturing professionals will discuss how organizational culture plays a role in attracting and retaining employees.
Two workshops will be held.
The PA Playbook for Manufacturing Competitiveness workshop will provide an overview of the Pennsylvania Manufacturing Competitiveness Playbook, a report released by the PA Manufacturing Advisory Council that identifies three game changers and 10 recommendations to improve Pennsylvania’s economic performance in manufacturing.
The “BIG PICTURE” of Local Wages: Analysis, Trends, & Pitfalls workshop will discuss the wage increase over the past two years. It will be presented by GAGE, a company with experience in the staffing industry.
A portion of the funding provided by the summit’s sponsors will be used to provide students with free admittance. GRCA and the sponsors will work with local colleges and Career and Technology Centers to coordinate the effort.
The summit is being held during national Manufacturing Month.
