Philadelphia-based Rite Aid, a full-service pharmacy, recently partnered with WellSpan Health, a York-based integrated health system serving central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland, to improve health outcomes for WellSpan’s patients by preventing, diagnosing, managing, and treating illnesses.

The companies will share data and insights to improve continuity across a broader range of services, close care gaps, increase immunization rates, strengthen medication adherence, and promote in-store opportunities to educate customers on products and services that improve health and wellness.

In addition, the partnership will include clinical services, such as preventative medicine and chronic disease management, and innovative care models designed to improve access to care and quality and reduce healthcare costs.

The partnership is expected to improve outcomes in Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and York counties, along with two counties in Maryland.

Rite Aid serves more than 100,000 customers with a WellSpan Health provider annually at WellSpan Health’s 45 locations.

Rite Aid employs more than 6,400 pharmacists in 17 states at more than 2,350 retail pharmacy locations.

WellSpan Health’s clinically integrated network includes 2,600 aligned physicians and advanced practice providers, while its integrated delivery system includes nearly 1,900 providers, eight hospitals, home care, and a behavioral health organization.
