Cranberry Township-based Westinghouse Electric Company announced Tuesday it had completed its acquisition of BHI Energy, which will bring together two energy companies to create the nuclear industry’s first fully-integrated outage, maintenance, and medication services business.

By combining BHI’s service quality and customer partnerships with Westinghouse’s capabilities and expertise in nuclear plant maintenance and modification services and industrial services, the companies hope to expand their global capabilities and better serve the nuclear industry.

“Both Westinghouse and BHI customers will benefit from the integrated industry-leading practices from both companies,” Westinghouse President and CEO Patrick Fragman said. “The combination of these complementary organizations further strengthens our ability to serve the nuclear operating fleet through an expanded presence in our core business while setting a new standard in outage and maintenance efficiencies.”

The acquisition furthers Westinghouse’s commitment to shaping the future of carbon-free energy by providing safe, innovative nuclear technologies to utilities across the globe. With over 135 years of experience in innovation, the company said it is continuing its goal of providing advanced technologies to cover the complete nuclear energy life cycle.

Headquartered in Weymouth, Mass., BHI has provided specialty services and staffing solutions to the industrial oil and gas power generation, transmission and distribution markets for the past 40 years. The company employs more than 8,500 project management and technical, professional, and craft laborers at more than 130 global project locations.
