PPG has donated more than $450,000 since the beginning of the month to support the developing Ukrainian refugee crisis.

On March 1, the company donated $250,000, including a $50,000 match of employee donations, to humanitarian relief and longer-term recovery support. The company said Wednesday that it will donate an additional $150,000 to nonprofits providing humanitarian support and double the company match to $100,000.

In addition, PPG has directed community giving budgets to help.

“Since the war in Ukraine began, PPG’s highest priority has been to protect the safety and wellbeing of its employees, including those from Ukraine and those located within Russia,” the company said in a statement. “The war in Ukraine has also made it necessary to scale back operations in Russia due to deteriorating business conditions and regulatory restrictions.”

PPG will not do business with Russian state-owned entities, the Russian aerospace market, or parties that fall within the scope of recent regulations but will sell a minimum amount of essential products.

It has taken steps to wind down various other operations in Russia, with the exception of supplying coatings to customers providing packaging for essential food and beverage products.

If there are net profits from PPG’s Russian operations, those will be donated to humanitarian relief.
