Philadelphia-based Rite Aid Corp. recently announced it is in the process of realigning its management team and streamlining operations.
“The changes we announced today are part of our ongoing efforts to reduce costs and remove layers,” Rite Aid President and CEO Heyward Donigan said.
The position of Chief Operating Officer has been eliminated. COO Jim Peters has left the company, as has Executive Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer Jocelyn Konrad.
Donigan wished Peters and Konrad luck and thanked them for their contributions.
Senior Vice President of Clinical Pharmacy Services Karen Staniforth will now also have the title of Chief Pharmacy Officer. The position of chief pharmacy officer will focus on centralized pharmacy operations. Staniforth will assume those duties in addition to her current responsibilities.
Executive Vice President and Chief Retail Officer Andre Persaud will take over field operations for pharmacy and oversee front-end operations.
Executive Vice President and CIO Justin Mennen’s new title is chief digital and technology officer. His responsibilities will now include leadership of all digital and ecommerce.
Rite Aid has more than 2,450 retail pharmacy locations in 17 states. It provides pharmacy benefits and services to millions of members nationwide through Elixir.
