Ansys, an engineering simulation company, will be supplying LG Electronics, a South Korean multinational electronics company, with simulation solutions under a new five-year enterprise license agreement.

The solutions will help LG Electronics integrate virtual research and development simulations based on computer-aided engineering into the earliest stages of product development. This will reduce development time, the need for physical prototypes, and the associated costs.

“With proactive support from Ansys, we can streamline workflows and introduce high-quality, next-generation products faster than expected,” Daehwa Jeong, LG Electronics executive vice president and head of Production Engineering Research Institute, said. “We are confident in our shared growth opportunities and look forward to seeing future developments. Just as importantly, we will lessen our carbon footprint and move digital transformation forward.”

Major technology areas for LG Electronics’ digital transformation include health care, sensors, equipment, and materials. Ansys simulation solutions will help accelerate and optimize product development in these areas.

Also, under the agreement, the companies will expand collaborative innovation through opportunities such as joint technology seminars and conferences.

During the pandemic, when in-person contact and on-site resources were limited, Ansys provided LG Electronics engineers access to the Ansys Learning Hub, allowing them to gain critical simulation training virtually.

Ansys is headquartered south of Pittsburgh.
