Black Buffalo 3D Corp., a New Jersey-based manufacturer of large-scale 3D construction printers, plans to relocate to Monroe County.

The company recently purchased approximately 106 acres in Smithfield Township, where it will build a 150,000-square-foot building that will serve as a 3D printing training facility and factory.

The company will invest more than $35.7 million in construction, purchasing equipment, and employee training. The facility will create 71 full-time jobs within three years.

“Our investment in this innovative company, which is helping to make the 3D construction printing of affordable and sustainable housing more accessible, is a true step towards the future,” Gov. Tom Wolf said. “The decision by Black Buffalo 3D to locate their manufacturing operation in Monroe County and create highly skilled jobs is a win for the local community and Pennsylvania as a whole, and I look forward to seeing their continued growth and success here.”

Black Buffalo manufactures 3D printers for construction and proprietary concrete-based ink. The technology is used for printing formless precast and creating commercial and residential buildings.

The Department of Community and Economic Development submitted a funding proposal
for a $2.4 million Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority loan, a $284,000 Pennsylvania First grant, and a $142,000 workforce development grant.
