The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) recently approved $471,248 in funding for 11 municipal projects in nine counties through the Municipal Assistance Program (MAP).

MAP helps local governments plan for and efficiently implement municipal projects in three categories: shared services, community planning, and floodplain management. It also provides technical resources and assistance.

“This funding helps municipalities and local governments update their essential plans to ensure they are more efficient and better prepared for the future,” said Gov. Tom Wolf. “The commonwealth remains committed to ensuring our communities have the resources they need to complete important planning projects like these for the betterment of their communities and their residents.”

Grants were awarded between $16,845 and $75,000.

The city of Lancaster received $75,000 to update its 1993 Comprehensive Plan. The city’s goal of its 2042 Comprehensive Plan reflects community consensus about the direction community development and growth should take over the next 20 years.

Franklin County received $69,837 to update its 2012 Comprehensive Plan and meet all requirements outlined within the Municipalities Planning Code.

Pike County received $55,066 to update its 2006 Comprehensive Plan.

Crafton and Ingram boroughs in Allegheny County received $50,000 to modernize zoning ordinances.
