The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) recently graduated 15 liquor enforcement officers at a ceremony held at the Southwest Training Center in Greensburg.
Liquor enforcement officers have the power and duty to make arrests for violations of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code and related offenses. In addition, they inspect licensed or unlicensed liquor establishments and conduct undercover investigations operations.
“I congratulate all of the distinguished men and women of the 28th liquor control enforcement trainee class,” Col. Robert Evanchick, PSP commissioner, said. “The graduates join a devoted and elite group of officers who enforce liquor code violations throughout the commonwealth.”
The graduates were assigned to Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement offices in Allentown, Erie, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Punxsutawney.
Justin Rieg, who was assigned to the Punxsutawney office, received the High Scholastic Achievement Award, presented to a trainee who earned the highest level of academic achievement in the class, and the Sergeant John M. Makary Physical Fitness Achievement Award, presented to a trainee who achieved the highest combined score on a series of physical skills tests.
Shawn Meinhart, who was assigned to the Philadelphia office, received the High Pistol Award, presented to the trainee who scored the highest on the department’s pistol qualification course.
