CertainTeed investing $400M to expand manufacturing locations

Malvern-based CertainTeed, a sustainable building products company, recently announced it is investing more than $400 Million to expand its production capacity at four key manufacturing locations.

The investments are expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 20 percent and reduce waste by more than 50 percent.

A total of $32 million will be invested in the Chowchilla, Calif., insulation plant. The company will purchase an oven and furnace. This will allow production to increase 13 percent, starting next year.

A total of $30 million will be invested in the Athens, Ga., insulation plant. The company will start a new production line that will increase the plant’s capacity of loose-fill insulation beginning in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Approximately $100 million will be invested at one of the roofing shingle plants in the Southeast. Construction will begin this year and the production capacity is expected to be fully online in 2024.

Approximately $250 million will expand the production capacity of gypsum in the Southeast by 900 million square feet annually. Capacity is expected to come online in 2024.
