Talen Energy recently selected Linxon to supply three greenfield substations for the Cumulus Data Center Project in Salem Township.

Linxon will supply Hitachi Energy products for the 500/69 kilovolt Gas Insulated Substation, the 230/69 kilovolt Gas Insulated Substation and hybrid substations.

Each substations will connect to the 2,500 megawatt Susquehanna nuclear power plant. A portion of the energy will supply power to a 400,000-square-foot Cumulus data center campus that will be located within close proximity to the plant.

Substations transmit and distribute electricity. The network is protected from power outages by the use of switchgear controls.

“Talen Energy is happy to have reached an agreement with Linxon to deliver turnkey substations for our flagship Cumulus data center campus project,” Dustin Wertheimer, Talen Energy vice president and divisional CFO, said. “We are using available undeveloped land around our Susquehanna plant to create a business that will provide job opportunities and other economic benefits to the community both during the construction phase, as well as once the facility is operational. We are excited to break ground on this project and look forward to working with Linxon to deliver the critical substation installations.”

Linxon works in projects that offer power transmission, renewable and conventional power generation, and transportation solutions.
