DelGrosso Foods, the oldest family-owned pasta sauce producer in the United States, will expand its manufacturing operations in Blair County.

The company plans to convert a 166,000-square-foot facility in Antis Township into manufacturing space. This will allow the company to more than double its production.

It will invest $60 million, and the project is expected to retain 90 positions and create nearly 50 new, full-time manufacturing jobs over the next three years.

DelGrosso produces branded products, produces sauce or salsa for several national brands, and packs private label products for 10 of the country’s top 20 grocers in Blair County.

“We’ve made numerous additions to our existing Tipton sauce plant over the decades, adding warehousing space and expanded production capacity where we could,” Joe DelGrosso, company CEO, said. “In order to continue to grow, our only option at this point is to add a second facility. It’s the largest step in the history of the family business since my parents packed those first cans of sauce over 70 years ago.”

The Department of Community and Economic Development submitted a funding proposal for a $166,800 workforce development grant to help the company train workers. It encouraged DelGrosso to apply for the Manufacturing Tax Credit program.
