The Regional Investors Council of the Allegheny Conference recently launched a public service campaign to encourage those living in the Pittsburgh region to adopt health and safety procedures to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The campaign, Proud to Protect Pittsburgh, involves celebrities and residents encouraging others to take pride in protecting themselves and the community from COVID-19, especially during the holiday season.

During phase one, the focus will be on fighting the increase in cases in southwestern Pennsylvania. Phase two will encourage vaccination acceptance.

Laura Karet, president and CEO of Giant Eagle and incoming Allegheny Conference chairwoman, and Bryan Salesky, Argo AI founder and CEO and the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce chairman, are heading the COVID-19 Resurgence Task Force of the Allegheny Conference. Nine other regional leaders will join them on the taskforce.

“The show of solidarity in banding together – as one Pittsburgh community – sends a powerful message of support to those people and places, including our Main Street and smaller businesses and their employees all over the region, that have been made vulnerable by the pandemic,” Salesky said. “Our small businesses create jobs and economic opportunities, and they also give Pittsburgh its distinctive appeal and character.”
