UGI group joins energy coalition

UGI Corp.’s Natural Gas Businesses group recently joined Our Nation’s Energy Future (ONE Future), a coalition of 33 other gas production, transmission, and distribution companies.

UGI Corp. is a distributor and marketer of energy products and services. Its Natural Gas Businesses group is comprised of affiliates UGI Energy Services and UGI Utilities.

Established in 2014, ONE Future’s goal is to achieve methane emission rate reductions equivalent to 1 percent or less of total natural gas production for all member facilities.

“Our membership in ONE Future is another step toward achieving UGI’s ambitious greenhouse gas emission reduction targets,” Robert F. Beard, UGI executive vice president for the Natural Gas Businesses, said. “For over 135 years, UGI has focused on providing safe, reliable service to its customers and to the many communities it serves. We are committed to continued growth in an environmentally responsible manner and believe natural gas plays an important role in a cleaner future.”

UGI’s subsidiaries operate natural gas and electric utilities in Pennsylvania, manage electric generation assets in Pennsylvania, and manage midstream energy assets in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia.

The company also engages in energy marketing in 11 states, the District of Columbia, and internationally and distributes liquefied petroleum gas domestically through AmeriGas and internationally through UGI International.
