State approves Miller Fabrication Solution’s apprenticeship program

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) recently approved Miller Fabrication Solutions’ apprenticeship program.

Approval means the program meets DLI standards and is eligible to receive grant funding.

Miller, a supplier of steel-fabricated parts for heavy equipment manufacturers, created the welding and machining trades program.

Apprentices will learn practical and conceptual skills over three years. When training is complete, they will receive credentials from the state, confirming highly skilled trade professionals.

The program will begin next year. Interested candidates can apply on the company’s website.

As it does, hiring and retaining skilled professional workers will be a pervasive challenge. According to the Pennsylvania Apprenticeship and Training Office, employers with registered apprenticeship programs have lower training costs, improved productivity, and lower turnover.

The company also recently released results from October’s America’s Manufacturing Day. More than 1,000 registrants from 16 states participated in the company’s five free webinars.
