Pittsburgh-based Calgon Carbon Corporation recently announced it will be raising prices globally on all activated carbon products, services, and related equipment from between 5 percent to 10 percent.

The move is in response to an increase in raw-materials and sourced-products prices over the past six months as well as additional labor costs. The price increase will go into effect Sunday.

“We take a lot of pride in our surety of supply,” Jim Coccagno, Calgon Carbon executive vice president and chief commercial officer, said. “Throughout COVID-19, our shipments and customer exchanges remain our top priorities, second only to employee safety. We have been able to quickly adjust our internal processes; implement COVID-19 safety training, establish aggressive safety protocols, and work even more closely with our supply chain partners to secure all needed materials on a timely basis. As the largest manufacturer of granular activated carbon, we’ve ensured that our customers can deliver their essential products and services the world depends on.”

Calgon Carbon operates 20 manufacturing, reactivation, innovation, and equipment fabrication facilities domestically and overseas. In Europe and Asia, the company is known as Chemviron.

In March 2018, Calgon Carbon became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kuraray Co., a manufacturer and/or distributor of innovative coal-, wood- and coconut-based activated carbon products.
