The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia recently appointed Manu Asthana, PJM Interconnection president and CEO, to its board of directors for a two-year term.

“We are so glad to welcome Manu to our board of directors,” Rob Wonderling, chamber president and CEO, said. “His wealth of experience across the energy industry at the retail and wholesale levels makes him an excellent addition to our board.”

“I’m excited for the chance to work alongside the leaders that work to shape the economy of the Philadelphia region,” said Asthana. “With the unique role PJM plays in the success of area businesses, collaboration with our region’s leaders is key.”

Asthana joined PJM in January and also serves as a PJM board member.

He has a Bachelor of Science in economics degree and has more than 21 years of experience working in the electricity industry. This experience includes risk management, competitive retail electricity, power generation operations, electricity and natural gas trading, and optimization and dispatch.

Based in Valley Forge, PJM Interconnection is the nation’s largest grid operator, providing electric power to 65 million people in all or parts of 13 states, including Pennsylvania.

The company was founded in 1927. Its transmission grid includes more than 84,236 miles of transmission lines.
