Alcoa, a global provider of aluminum, alumina, and bauxite products, recently announced the introduction of new products.

The company has expanded its Sustana line to include the EcoSource line of products.

“Alcoa’s line of Sustana products can provide advantages for customers who want to improve their environmental footprint,” Roy Harvey, Alcoa president and CEO, said. “Our leadership in sustainability is represented with emissions measured throughout the process. Not all aluminum is created equally, and our mine-to-metal approach is a key differentiator for these products.”

Alcoa measures direct and indirect emissions related to the mining and refining of alumina and bauxite.

The new products are manufactured with a maximum of 0.6 tons of carbon dioxide equivalents per ton of alumina. This is better than the industry’s standard.

Additionally, the refineries producing the new products have an average carbon emissions profile that is 90 percent better than competitor refineries.

The new EcoSource line includes the EcoDura and EcoLum products.

EcoDura is aluminum made with at least 50 percent recycled content and is produced for construction and building customers.

EcoLum is a low-carbon aluminum that is offered for unalloyed high purity, foundry, slab, and billet products.

Sustana products are sourced from Aluminum Stewardship Initiative certified facilities.
