The Hershey Co. plans to build a fulfillment center in South Annville Township that will support the company’s manufacturing plants and distribution center in Palmyra. The facility also will expand the company’s fulfillment and warehousing capabilities in the U.S. market.
“Consumers continue to gravitate to our iconic brands in increasing numbers, and as our business continues to grow, we need more advanced fulfillment capabilities here in our home state,” Jason Reiman, Hershey senior vice president and chief supply chain officer, said. “As we scale our production at our plants to serve consumer demand, we want to be ready to fulfill those needs with additional and flexible fulfillment capabilities.”
The 810,000-square-foot facility is expected to be operational in late 2021.
The facility will create 270 new jobs within the next three years, including 35 direct, full-time Hershey employees. Hiring will begin in the spring.
Hershey is investing more than $178 million into the project.
The Department of Community and Economic Development has submitted $28,000 in workforce development training funding for new and incumbent workers and a $105,000 Job Creation Tax Credits proposal. The funds will be distributed upon the creation of the new positions.
The project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team.
