MSA Safety Incorporated, a Cranberry Township-based manufacturer and supplier of safety products, recently announced it will be expanding its facility.

The expansion allows the company to meet future growth forecasts and make productivity improvements within the company’s gas detection product portfolio.

“MSA’s portable instrument and fixed gas and flame detection businesses have been strong drivers of MSA’s growth in recent years,” Nish Vartanian, MSA chairman, president and CEO, said. “In Cranberry Township, one of the outcomes of this growth has been a steady and gradually increasing need for expansion and reconfiguration of our manufacturing space. With this investment, we can leverage a larger operations footprint to better meet the needs of our customers while creating an opportunity to add new manufacturing jobs within our region in the years ahead.”

The current 320-acre campus includes research and development labs, manufacturing facilities, and office space.

The company plans to construct a 20,000-square-foot, single-story manufacturing facility to be used exclusively for assembly work of gas detection products.

Groundbreaking will be held this month, and the building is expected to open in mid-2021.

MSA’s manufacturing facility opened in 1986 and was renovated in 2010. The new building will be located adjacent to an existing building.
