Bartolotta asks Gov. Wolf to open Beaver, Greene and Washington counties

Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46) recently sent a letter to Gov. Tom Wolf urging him to reopen businesses in Beaver, Greene, and Washington counties

Bartolotta’s district was not included in Wolf’s May 8 reopening plan. This is a violation of the 14th Amendment, she said, because there was no equitable representation for lifting county restrictions.

Wolf’s stay-at-home order has caused irreparable harm to employers, she said. The district has a low infection rate for COVID-19 but has seen an increase in drug overdose from opioids, antidepressants, and alcohol.

Bartolotta states she has been in communication with business owners, local elected officials and
county commissioners.

“The pet groomer is ready to safely receive animals and keep a sanitized facility as they perform vital routine care for pets,” she said. “The hair salon is prepared to close the store to walk-ins but allow limited customers with sanitized work stations. The factory has personal protective equipment ready and in place to protect employees…. Every day that we wait pushes more families and employers closer to the edge of the financial cliff and some have fallen already.”

The businesses would reopen under Centers for Disease Control guidelines, she said.
