ConnexiCore, an on-demand nationwide commercial drone services provider based in Milford, Pa., is helping construction companies utilize drone technology for job site data collection to maintain safe social distancing during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are actively exploring when, where and how we can be most helpful during the COVID-19 crisis,” ConnexiCore Founder and CEO Frank Segarra said. “We want to help our clients keep their employees safe, while also trying to maintain effectiveness. This supports productivity for companies and preserves jobs for the employees.”

While travel and interaction restrictions have prevented in-person visits, the drones are providing high-resolution images and 4k video for inspection-related tasks, like pre-construction site surveys, grading, asset inventory tracking, real-time progress monitoring, security, and stockpile volumetrics.

“Every construction project has a variety of stakeholders that ultimately need to visit the site, shake hands, conduct project meetings and interact with dozens of people on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis…But now this dangerous uncharted virus situation is impacting the ability for everyone to travel safely,” Segarra wrote in a company blog on March 22.

The drones are delivering all of the collected content and data through SaaS-based platforms, such as ConnexiCore Cloud, which allow connected teams to work remotely.

Segarra continued, stating that drone technology can also provide a great deal of architectural data, such as 3D point cloud models, plant health, and as-builts to design built comparisons.
