PNC Financial Services Group recently contributed $30 million to coronavirus relief efforts directed toward basic needs and hardship relief programs across the markets in which PNC operates.

The funding will be distributed throughout the year and will be coordinated by the PNC Foundation and PNC’s Office of the Regional Presidents.

PNC regional presidents will identify grant opportunities that provide the greatest local impact. These opportunities will include early education and online resources that enhance access to information, address food insecurity and shelter, and offer programs and tools for those in need.

Last week, the PNC Foundation awarded a $1 million grant to the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania to create the Students and Families Food Relief Fund. The fund will support families struggling with food insecurity.

“The safety and well-being of our customers, employees and the communities we serve has always been a top priority for PNC,” William S. Demchak, PNC chairman, president and CEO, said. “That commitment has never been more important as we collectively navigate the unprecedented challenges posed by this global pandemic.”

An employee match-gift program also will support the American Red Cross and the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s Students and Families Food Relief Fund’s coronavirus relief efforts.
