Department of Labor & Industry (L&I) Deputy Secretary for Workforce Development Eileen Cipriani toured the Lebanon County Career and Technology Center (LCCTC) in Lebanon Wednesday and discussed the importance of investing in job training.
“Career and technology schools like LCCTC are providing students with the skills and technical training they need to build a solid foundation for a successful career upon graduation,” Cipriani said. “CTCs are also making a job-ready workforce to meet local employers’ needs. Ensuring that Pennsylvania’s workers are prepared to meet the needs of a global economy is a priority of the Wolf Administration.”
Gov. Tom Wolf’s workforce development initiative, PAsmart, has secured $70 million over two years, including $40 million for science and technology education and $30 million for apprenticeships and job training programs.
The number of career and technical education (CTE) students earning industry-recognized credentials has increased to 34.2 percent, and the number of credentials earned by students enrolled in CTE programs has increased by 27.2 percent, according to L&I.
The LCCTC training facility houses 27 programs. LCCTC’s Workforce Training Center has established partnerships with various workforce development agencies, businesses, and organizations to help students gain the training needed for their careers.
