Gov. Tom Wolf recently announced that three heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) companies in Allegheny and Butler counties will receive grants to assist with the cost of apprenticeships.

The funding was granted to A-Air Company, Inc. and Techpro Building Services of Allegheny County and Pelles Heating & Cooling Services, Inc. of Butler County.

“Apprenticeships provide a great opportunity to enter the workforce and get the necessary training that leads to family-sustaining jobs,” Wolf said. “This funding will enable these companies to build on the success of their training programs and empower workers while boosting Pennsylvania’s economy.”

A-Air Company, Inc. and Techpro Building Services each received approval for $49,500 over the next four years to support the training of five apprentices. After completing the apprenticeship program, the apprentices will become journeymen. Pelles Heating & Cooling Services, Inc. received approval for $29,700 over the next four years.

The statewide Pre-Apprentice and Apprenticeship Grant Program provides assistance to registered apprenticeship programs.
