Wealth management services provider Northern Trust announced Monday that Michelle Hong and Melissa Novak, CFA, will lead the team at the firm’s recently opened Philadelphia office.

Hong and Novak will serve as senior vice presidents of Northern Trust and will report to Mid-Atlantic Region President Brett Rees. Hong will play a key role in Northern Trust’s national Wealth Advisory practice, and Novak will be part of the firm’s Mid-Atlantic Investment Leadership Team.

“We are delighted to welcome Michelle and Melissa to our talented team of wealth advisory professionals,” Henry P. Johnson, east region president for Northern Trust Wealth Management, said. “Their depth of expertise in advising ultra-high net worth individuals and families, coupled with their extensive experience in the Philadelphia community, positions them both well to co-head our team in this newly established office.”

Hong previously served as senior vice president of private banking at Brown Brothers Harriman, where she was also a member of the firm’s Strategic Planning Committee for the Philadelphia region. Before her time at Brown Brothers Harriman, Hong was an associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, and served as a Law Clerk to Mary A. McLaughlin at the U.S. District Court’s Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She earned a bachelor’s degree at Duke University and a law degree at Harvard Law School.

Novak joins Northern Trust from Hawthorn, PNC Family Wealth, where she served as senior vice president and senior investment advisor. Novak began her career as an emerging markets asset manager with City of London Investment Management. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College.

Novak has been awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute. She serves as secretary on the CFA Society of Philadelphia’s Board of Directors and the Women’s Leadership Initiative. She also serves on the board as the treasurer for Career Wardrobe and is a member of the Dickinson College Regional Alumni Council.
