American Water names new president for Mid-Atlantic Division, Pennsylvania American Water

American Water recently named Mike Doran as senior vice president of its Mid-Atlantic Division and president of Pennsylvania American Water.

The positions will go into effect Monday.

“Mike also has deep utility experience, a strong commitment to excellent customer service and a passion for safety, and he successfully builds and leads teams,” Walter Lynch, American Water’s COO, said. “I know he looks forward to working with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission and staff, elected leaders, customers and the community at large.”

Doran comes from Duquesne Light where he has worked since 2014. He served as the company’s chief safety executive and also was responsible for the company’s engineering, transmission and distribution operations center, customer contact center, and operations support services.

He previously served as regional president of Metropolitan Edison Co. and spent 31 years with FirstEnergy and Allegheny Energy and was a member of the FirstEnergy/Allegheny Energy Merger Team.

Doran previously sat on the board of directors of the United Way of Westmoreland County and has been active in multiple nonprofit and community groups.

American Water employs more than 7,100 people and provides drinking water, wastewater services, and related services to approximately 14 million people.

Pennsylvania American Water serves approximately 2.4 million customers.
