The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus recently presented AmeriHealth Caritas with a special citation for its work with small and minority-owned businesses.
The citation also commends the company’s commitment to bringing quality healthcare to underserved communities.
AmeriHealth Caritas provides behavioral health services, integrated managed care products, pharmaceutical benefit management, and specialty pharmacy services. It is headquartered in Philadelphia.
“On behalf of the Legislative Black Caucus, we are happy to honor AmeriHealth Caritas with this citation,” Rep. Stephen Kinsey (D-Philadelphia) said. “Partnering with small and minority-owned businesses is good for business, and has ripple effects that benefit whole communities. AmeriHealth Caritas is offering a model for how other businesses can make a deeper commitment to the local community.”
Kinsey, along with Reps. Margo Davidson (D-Delaware) and Movita John-Harrell (D-Philadelphia County) and other members of the caucus, visited AmeriHealth Caritas to present the award and to discuss contracting with small and minority-owned businesses.
AmeriHealth Caritas established a Supplier Diversity program more than a decade ago. It also has developed a Mentor Protégé Program that provides minority-, women-owned and small- businesses with the tools and training necessary to spark growth.
The company invested $26 million in 2017 to local businesses owned by people of color, people with disabilities, women, and veterans.
