The Penn State Health Lime Spring Outpatient Center in Lancaster opened earlier this month as part of Penn State Health’s goal of ensuring central Pennsylvanians are no farther than 10 minutes away from a primary-care provider and 20 minutes from a specialist.
The 76,000-square-foot, two-story medical office building provides a variety of medical offices and services in one location. It consolidates five Penn State Health Medical Group practices.
“Our new Lime Spring Outpatient Center is designed to improve the patient experience through better coordination of care,” A. Craig Hillemeier, dean of Penn State College of Medicine, said. Hillemeier also is CEO of Penn State Health and senior vice president of health affairs for Penn State.
The facility employs 226 people and offers specialty services on the first floor and primary care services.
Technology was installed to improve staff efficiency, streamline the patients’ visits and offer additional privacy. The technology allows for all services from check-in to check-out to occur in the same room.
A real-time location system uses ceiling sensors, personal badges, and mapping software to locate staff and patients.
Wohlsen Construction provided preconstruction and construction management services, and Richard F. Mulá Architects provided the design layout.
