The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board recently voted to renew the operator’s license of Mountainview Thoroughbred Racing Association for an additional five years.
The association operates the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in East Hanover Township, Dauphin County.
A public hearing was held Oct. 2, during which the public provided testimony about the casino and its impact in the community, and casino personnel spoke about the facility’s operation and submitted exhibits.
Before voting on the license renewal, the board also heard testimony from the Bureau of Casino Compliance, the Office of Compulsive and Problem Gaming, the Gaming Control Board’s Office of Enforcement Counsel, the state police, the Bureau of Investigations and Enforcement, community groups, and local government officials.
A hearing also was held Wednesday in Harrisburg. The board questioned association representatives on remaining issues.
The casino opened in 2006 and employs more than 900 people. It is Pennsylvania’s first sports wagering facility and houses 75 table games and more than 2,000 slot machines.
Since opening, the casino has generated more than $2.7 billion in gross revenue and approximately $1.4 billion in gaming tax revenue.
The association last had its license renewed in August 2014.
Pennsylvania has 10 stand-alone and racetrack casinos.
