The Senate Majority Policy Committee hosted a roundtable discussion Monday at Swashbuckler Brewing Company in Manheim to explore the economic development and community revitalization impact of breweries in Pennsylvania.
“Lancaster County has a rich history of brewing since the 1850s, even once earning the nickname of ‘The Little Munich of America,’” Sen. Scott Martin (R-13th District) said. “The economic impact of brewing goes beyond production and consumption since various unique craft breweries are one of the many reasons why people visit our county and state.”
The discussion included lawmakers, brewers, economic development professionals, representatives from local bureaus and other stakeholders.
“Pennsylvania is a national leader in the brewing industry, and conversations like this offer a wealth of new ideas on how we can keep our state well-positioned to continue to grow this industry,” Sen. Ryan Aument (R-36th District) said. “My thanks goes out to Swashbuckler Brewing Company and the Senate Majority Policy Committee for agreeing to participate in this informative discussion.”
The roundtable was one of four events held throughout the state in recent months to examine the impact of Pennsylvania breweries on local and state economies.
