More than 70 nonprofit organizations in central and eastern Pennsylvania recently received $450,000 in grants from the PPL Foundation.
The foundation provides grants to organizations that support education and sustainable communities. Each organization received a grant award of up to $25,000.
“The challenges we face in our communities are complex, and there are no easy solutions,” Lissette Santana, chief operating officer of the PPL Foundation, said. “PPL Foundation’s goal is to bring together people, ideas, and resources to tackle these challenges collectively. We’re proud to support nonprofit organizations working to address the issues most relevant in our communities.”
Grant winners include the Bethlehem Economic Development Corp., the Carbondale Technology Transfer Center, the Central Susquehanna Community Foundation, Junior Achievement of South Central Pennsylvania, Fulton Theatre in Lancaster, the Nonprofit and Community Assistance Center in Pittston, Northeast PA Manufacturers & Employers Council, and the Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation in Williamsport.
The foundation awards grants twice a year, in spring and fall. The next funding cycle for major grants of $25,000 to $100,000 begins in August.
An additional $50,000 was awarded to more than a dozen organizations focusing on child literacy. Award recipients include the Lancaster Public Library, the Allentown School District Foundation, and the Tri-Valley Free Public Library.
