The PPL Foundation, which supports nonprofit organizations engaging in innovative and groundbreaking work, recently awarded 115 nonprofit organizations in eastern and central Pennsylvania more than $450,000 in grants.
“Through its grants, the PPL Foundation invests in innovative approaches to address critical social challenges and help build stronger, more sustainable communities,” Ryan Hill, PPL Foundation president, said. “We’re proud to support the work of our nonprofit partners, working together to improve the lives and well-being of residents in the communities we serve.”
Funding is to be used to facilitate community conversations on diversity and inclusion, encourage environmental conservation in the next generation, inspire students to explore career opportunities, and much more.
Recipients include Allentown Economic Development Corp. and Fulton Theatre Co.
This round of grants is the first time diversity, equity, and inclusion programs were specifically included. Nearly 20 percent of the grants were awarded to organizations working to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion within eastern and central Pennsylvania communities served by PPL.
Applications will be accepted from Aug. 1 through Sept. 15, and grant amounts will be awarded between $25,000 to $100,000. This round will be focused on major new initiatives and expansions of programs that align with the foundation’s focus areas.
