Universal Technical Institute’s (UTI) Exton campus recently launched the Early Employment initiative to give students post-secondary skills education in the transportation industry and develop skilled employee pipelines.
“This initiative is a win for both employers and students,” Bob Kessler, UTI-Exton campus president, said. “Students gain real industry experience and earn a living while they’re in school. Once they graduate, they have a good job with an employer they know well, who will help them pay back their tuition. Employers have the opportunity to help train future technicians to meet their needs and fill a critical skills gap.”
Employers register with the program and screen and hire incoming students. The students can apply for jobs once they enroll at UTI’s Exton campus, even if they haven’t started classes.
Students then receive on-the-job experience while completing their education. After graduating, students who meet their employers’ criteria will be reimbursed for school-related expenses and could be offered full-time employment.
Students must apply for the more than 30 available positions by Feb. 12.
Participating employers include Bayshore Truck Centers, CarSense, Ciocca Dealerships, Fred Beans Family of Dealerships, Herc Equipment, Republic Services, and Rothrock Motor Sales.
Exton is the second of 12 UTI campuses to offer the initiative.
