The Montgomery County Workforce Development Board, the area’s workforce development board, will be offering free manufacturing boot camps to people interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing.
The camps will be offered with the support of Southeastern Pennsylvania Manufacturing Alliance, a multi-employer collaborative comprised of regional manufacturers.
The boot camps will educate participants on updating their resumes, interview skills, and on industry basics. Participants also will work toward their OSHA 10 Safety Certification and will have the opportunity to take advantage of support services and intensive career coaching.
After completing the camp, participants will have an opportunity to connect with employers.
The camps will be held beginning Sept. 16 at the Montgomery County Human Services Center and will run for six weeks. PA CareerLink Montgomery County will administer the camps.
“Historically, the manufacturing industry has been viewed as blue-collar, union driven, and male-dominated,” Jennifer Butler, executive director of MontcoWorks, Montgomery County’s Workforce Development Board, said. “The truth is, manufacturing has become an integral part of every other industry and can offer unique and viable career pathways for anyone.”
Manufacturing is one of the fastest-growing industries in the region, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.
