CarbonLITE Holdings LLC of Los Angeles, the world’s largest producer of food-grade post-consumer recycled PET, recently announced that it will open a new facility in Greater Reading.
The project involves the construction of a 270,000 square foot facility at the Berks 61 site in Muhlenberg Township, Berks County. The facility is the company’s largest to date and will serve as its East Coast location. The project involves a total investment of over $80 million.
CarbonLITE expects to begin full operation in the first quarter of 2020. Upon completion, the company will create over 100 manufacturing jobs.
Factors including heavy utility requirements and accessibility to major transportation routes and labor pool led to choosing Greater Reading as the facility’s location.
The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA), led by Pamela Shupp, EVP/COO of the GRCA, mobilized municipal officials and utility representatives to support the company’s requests for information after initial contact from the broker.
“We cannot express how excited we are to have CarbonLITE join our community,” Mike Malinowski, chairman of the Muhlenberg Township Commissioners, said. “Pamela Shupp of the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance did an outstanding job coordinating all the local and state resources to show CarbonLITE that Muhlenberg Township, Berks County is an excellent place to locate your business.”
GRCA will continue to support CarbonLITE through the development, construction, and startup of their operation.
“GRCA’s team is ready to facilitate access to workforce training, talent attraction and introductions to the business community,” Shupp said.
