Pennsylvania American Water, Pennsylvania’s largest regulated water utility, recently completed its purchase of a water and wastewater system in Farmington Township in Clarion County.

“Farmington Township is very pleased to have Pennsylvania American Water take over our wastewater and water systems operations,” Farmington Township Supervisor Robin Kahle said. “It can be overwhelming for a township like Farmington to meet regulatory requirements continually.”

The township previously purchased water from Pennsylvania American Water. It will use proceeds from the sale to pay off its debt and will allocate funds to township capital improvement projects.

Pennsylvania American Water also recently agreed to purchase Clarion County drinking water provider Corner Water Supply and Service Corp.’s water system assets. The purchase is pending Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission regulatory approval. Once completed, the company will have approximately 3,900 wastewater and 5,200 water connections in the county.

The two purchases totaled approximately $5.8 million, and the systems serve approximately 500 wastewater and 1,100 water customers.

The company will invest more than $3 million over the next five years to ensure the systems meet regulatory, safety, and security standards.

Pennsylvania American Water is a subsidiary of American Water. It provides water and wastewater services to approximately 2.3 million people.
