Agility Robotics, an Oregon-based robot builder with an office in Pittsburgh, recently partnered with Japan-based Ricoh, an integrated digital services and print and imaging solutions provider, to expand Agility’s customer support capabilities in North America.
Under the agreement, Ricoh will support Agility’s Digit robots, a robot for logistics work, and Agility Arc, designed to simplify the deployment lifecycle, through Ricoh’s Service Advantage program and provides additional resources for its end users.
“As the global warehouse automation market continues to experience double-digit growth, the need to keep the related technology, automation and robotics up and running, as well as adapt to new workflows, becomes even more critical,” Jim Kirby, Ricoh North America vice president of Service Advantage, said. “We are excited to collaborate with Agility to support their customers’ automated warehouse solutions and ensure the humanoid robots being deployed are coupled with a world-class service promise.”
The agreement marks the industry’s first formal commercial deployment of humanoid robots and also is the first Robots-as-a-Service deployment of humanoid robots.
Agility also recently partnered with Manhattan Associates, a warehouse management company, and Zion Solutions Group, a system integrator, and signed a multi-year agreement with GXO Logistics to deploy Digit in its logistics operations.
