Rite Aid appoints new CEO

Philadelphia-based Rite Aid Corp. recently appointed Matt Schroeder chief executive officer.

He succeeds Jeffrey S. Stein who has stepped down as chief executive officer and chief restructuring officer after the company emerged from Chapter 11.

Schroeder joined Rite Aid in 2000 and most recently served as executive vice president and chief financial officer. He previously served as vice president of financial accounting.

AS CFO, he was responsible for managing Rite Aid’s financial verticals. This includes treasury and accounting, financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, and leading store development and procurement functions.

Schroeder previously worked was an audit manager for Arthur Andersen. He serves on the Whitaker Center for Science and Arts, a not-for profit serving the greater Harrisburg Pennsylvania region, board of directors.
