The board of directors of Kennametal, a materials science, tooling and wear-resistant solutions company, recently voted to unanimously appoint William M. Lambert as chairman of the board, effective on Wednesday.

Since 2019, Lambert has served as a Kennametal board independent director and has been Audit Committee chairman.

Lambert succeeds Lawrence W. Stranghoener who since 2015 has served as either chairman of the board or independent lead director. He will remain on the board of directors on the Audit Committee.

“Bill has been a valuable member of our board of directors since 2016 and is perfectly suited to step into the role of Chairman,” Stranghoener said. “His extensive experience in global manufacturing, business strategy, product development and finance will serve the company well as we continue to advance our growth and innovation strategy to drive above market growth and margin expansion and deliver for our shareholders.”

In 2018, Lambert retired from MSA Safety Incorporated where he was president and CEO. He serves as a member of the MSA board of directors.

Kennametal serves the aerospace and defense, earthworks, energy, general engineering and transportation industries. It employs approximately 8,700 people in nearly 100 countries and generated $2.1 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2023.
