Horsham-based Sofidel America, a subsidiary of the Sofidel Group, is investing $185 million to increase capacity at its Circleville, Ohio, plant.
The investment will help the company meet the growing demand for tissue paper in the United States. The U.S. market accounted for 26.7 percent of Sofidel’s revenue in 2022.
The plant, located on a 280-acre site, houses two Valmet Advantage NTT paper mill machines and will increase production capacity to more than 200,000 metric tons annually, a 50 percent increase. It will become Sofidel’s largest production site.
The company will erect a new building for the Valmet DCT 200 paper mill machine. The machine will begin operation during the third quarter of 2025 and will reach a production capacity of 70,000 metric tons annually.
“Thanks in part to the close-knit and capable U.S. team and our excellent relationships with institutions, from the state of Ohio to the local communities that have always supported us, we open our second decade of operations in the U.S. with this investment in the Circleville plant,” Sofidel CEO Luigi Lazzareschi said.
Sofidel America was established in 2012 when Sofidel Group purchased the Cellynne tissue company and two converting plants. It operates in seven states.
