Wesco sets goal of reducing emissions by 30 percent

Pittsburgh-based Wesco International, a business-to-business distribution, logistics services and supply chain solutions provider, has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent all by 2030, according to the company’s annual sustainability report.

The report outlines the company’s progress toward the environmental, social and governance goals it set in the 2021 report and the key initiatives for advancing those goals.

Other company goals include achieving a 15 percent reduction in the total recordable incident rate, reducing landfill waste intensity by 15 percent in its United States and Canada locations, and providing 425,000 hours of safety training and development to employees

“Twenty-twenty-two was a truly remarkable year, one in which we delivered record-setting financial performance while making progress against our ESG goals,” John Engel, Wesco chairman, president and CEO, said. “These achievements are a testament to the hard work, dedication and innovation of our employees, and we look forward to continuing our journey of building more value for all our stakeholders while contributing to a healthier planet.”

The company has made progress toward its sustainability goals. It has reduced landfill waste intensity by 15 percent from the 2020 baseline.

In addition, the 15 percent reduction in incident rates has already been achieved.
