PPG recently opened a customer and employee experience center at its global headquarters in Pittsburgh. The grand opening marked the company’s 140th anniversary.

The 1,400-square-foot center showcases the company’s paints, coatings and specialty materials and technologies. It features wall coverings, furniture and TV screens for customers.

The center is part of a recent renovation the company completed on the top two floors of One PPG Place, its headquarters. Other changes include collaboration areas, open-concept workspaces, meeting rooms and employee kitchens.

The floors are painted in more than 20 PPG colors.

“The modern design enables increased collaboration by providing an innovative, open environment for everyone who works at or visits our global headquarters,” Tim Knavish, PPG president and CEO, said. “One of PPG’s enterprise growth focus areas is to modernize our operations around the world, and this is another step forward in that journey.”

Modernization projects also are underway at PPG’s facilities in Mexico City, Amsterdam, Prague, and Rueil-Malmaison, France. In China, the company expanded its Zhangjiagang plant and opened a battery pack application center in Tianjin.

The company was founded in 1883 as Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. Today, it operates in more than 70 countries and employs more than 52,000 people.
