Pittsburg-based Wabtec Corp., a provider of equipment, systems, digital solutions and value-added services for the freight and transit rail industries, recently signed a $190 million, multi-year parts agreement with PT Imeco Inter Sarana (PT IMECO), an Indonesian company providing a broad range of products and services for the upstream–downstream sector, energy infrastructure, power generation industry and process industry.

The agreement will support the 150 locomotive fleet of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI), the main operator of Indonesia’s public railways. Under the agreement, Wabtec will provide PT KAI with service kits and parts, overhaul kits to support the localization of overhaul and remanufacturing activities, and training on efficient maintenance of locomotives.

This will allow PT KAI to improve and expand its passenger and freight movement service.

“This order demonstrates the value of our local Indonesian distributor relationship with PT IMECO and how Wabtec can tailor our service offerings to support our customer’s specific requirements,” Alicia Hammersmith, Wabtec’s Global Freight Services president, said. “This supply arrangement will support the Indonesian economy by ensuring reliable rail operations to move millions of passengers and tons of freight each year.”

For more than 70 years, Wabtec has provided PT KAI with technical services and parts.
