Texas-based Aspen Power Partners, a firm developing and financing solar and storage installations, recently partnered with Trajectory Energy Partners, an Illinois-based solar developer, to develop 10 community solar projects in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
Six of the projects are in Pennsylvania and include a reclaimed former coal mine in Clearfield County. The projects will be developed in advance of pending state legislation concerning community solar power.
Aspen will invest approximately $96 million, while Trajectory Energy Partners will lead the development and oversee design, subscriber management, and long-term ownership of the assets.
“Aspen brings a wealth of experience and resources to developing community solar projects,” Megan Strand, Trajectory Energy Partners partner and co-founder, said. “With Aspen’s financial backing, we can deliver projects that provide clean energy and local economic development to the surrounding communities.”
The partnership will allow Aspen to expand access for consumers and businesses across all income levels to clean distributed energy. The company’s mission is to accelerate and democratize decarbonization, and it also has projects in California, Maine, and New York.
“It is encouraging that we are expanding our geographical footprint, continuing to work with landowners to preserve their property for future generations, and advancing the energy transition,” Dan Gulick, Aspen Power Partners partner, said.
